How to Liberate (De-Box or Unbox) a Doll Safely & Without Feeling Guilt or Remorse

Step 1: Select the doll and inspect the packaging.

Are there any openings that can be pried open with your fingers? What are the materials? There's usually a mix of cardboard and plastic used to secure the doll and the accoutrements.
Step 2: Find a flat surface in a brightly lit area, preferably indoors and away from wind/fire/water (a.k.a. "the elements"). Lay out your tools. I recommend scissors, and a small set of beading tools (needle-nose pliers, etc). These are available at craft stores and the crafting aisles of most big box stores.
Step 3: If you are experiencing guilt, think about how many thousands of these dolls are out there in the world. Some are produced in tens of thousands of units. You've already got the doll in front of you, so why not play with it? Why not enjoy it? Even if, let's say, you are liberating a very rare doll...like a Platinum Label or even a one-of-a-kind creation with an obscene price tag...
Step 4: Attack! Snip, tug and tear that doll away from the packaging. If you intend to store that doll in the original box, then you'll do this gently and carefully, so as not to destroy the packaging.

Step 5: Tidy up and take a sip of your favorite adult beverage. Perhaps inhale a fragrant Cognac or take little sips of a sweet liqueur to celebrate your love of fashion dolls. Happy Holidays!
