Master of the Universe

My name is Jared.  I'm a young professional residing in the New York metropolitan area. I started collecting dolls in 2011.  Seeing the tokidoki Barbie® doll on a television news broadcast led me to investigate the online community of adult Barbie® collectors. The first doll I ever owned is the Barbie® Basics Model No 16 Collection 002.  The minute I de-boxed that Ken® doll, I was hooked!

Soon after purchasing my first doll, I discovered another sub-hobby among doll collectors--doll photography.  I started the Life in Plastic photoblog in December 2011, and it has since gained a small following on Tumblr and Facebook.

Interacting with the vibrant online community of doll collectors has led me to other doll-related creative endeavors such as re-rooting dolls, bead embroidery, sewing, painting with acrylics, etcetera.  The itch to share my work kept on growing, and the photoblog format felt too limited.  I wanted to share other kinds of doll-related online content--tutorials, videos, doll reviews, links to my favorite doll sites, and so on.
